Come on, admit it! We all have moments when our business and our life is truly not progressing in quite the way we had hoped.
You set your goals and you move forward with your plans. Then suddenly, you hit a bump and you come crashing down. One part of you wants to give up and do something different; the other part of you is telling you to pick yourself up, brush yourself off and get on with it.
We all have these feelings. The most successful people in the world have these feelings. However, successful people only allow these feelings to penetrate their being for moments. These are crucial moments when a winner finds a way to connect with their inner-most burning desire to re-establish their reason for doing what they do. Obstacles will always come our way, it is part of the deal. Winners don’t allow crucial challenging moments to become hours or days.
It is not to ignore these feelings but rather acknowledge them as part of the process and re-seek to consider why you are building your business. Yes, back to your why. Getting back in touch with your why will keep the negative feelings at bay.
This is one of the key reasons why I encourage my clients to be part of a mastermind. You require to be part of a trusting group of confidantes where you can bring your fears and doubts, share them and then cast them aside. Your fellow master-minders know your why and they will encourage you to re-set your sails on a better course.
Sharing your doubts will not only assist to dilute the severity of the challenge but hopefully to extinguish your doubts completely. Why did you set out on your entrepreneurial journey in the first instance?
So having strategies to overcome these regular obstacles will assist you on your journey to success. I have mentioned belonging to a mastermind group and here are several other strategies that I believe are great strategies for dealing with the negative feelings.
Take a break from your work for a few hours. Often times we have been working so hard that we lose our ability to be creative. Exhaustion sets in and this brings about doubt and anxiety. Take a walk, cycle, play with the kids, go fishing – do whatever you love to do. This is assist you to re-group and and re-connect with your why.
Make sure you are eating healthy, nutritious food. Our emotions are affected by what we eat. I strongly recommend that as a entrepreneur you should be supplementing your diet with whole-food supplements designed to support all areas of your body. This dramatically improves your thinking and your feelings during this time of uncertainty.
Make sure you are drinking enough great quality water. Dehydration is one of the key reasons for doubt, fear and anxiety. I teach a course based on water and its many ways to heal our lives. This truly is the elixir of life.
Love to hear your ways for keeping yourself positive! It will be fun to counts the ways to overcome entrepreneurial doubt!

Clare,
Great post! Watching the intake of what you eat and drink is an often over looked aspect. Nutrition and hydration are critical components to our health and well being, both physically and mentally. Exercise is also crucial, keep that blood flowing and the creative juices will follow. My favorite tip though is remembering your “why”. When your “why” is first and foremost, everything else is a mere detail! I look forward to your next post.
David
